The Time of Fog

Artistic textile work The Time of Fog

The textile artistic work, The Time of Fog, is inspired by the diversity of responses of our mind, personal and social throughout our lives. In the approaches of cognitive neuroscience and in my own approach to the management of experiences and emotions.

Its name evokes the time we take in mental stops, obligatory but necessary, in the chaotic evolution of day-to-day thoughts, which we sometimes must make in order to continue moving forward, prelude to a possible solution, which on its own would not arrive, to help us make it arrive and flow. As part of the wonderful framework of the functioning of our mind, which differentiates and conditions us.

In this artistic textile work I present the idea of how sometimes, an external agent, “the fog” forces us to stop, because we do not see, in order to have a shot of real conscience and find a solution to a present problem posed. They are forced and necessary stops, in the frenetic flow of everyday life, caused by the “fog”, in which it seems that we do not see, which helps us to face and solve, or helps us to face and accept, unwanted situations, that can block our present and future and mark us throughout our lives.

This is an extra textured fabric, handmade on the loom with an adapted “Honeycomb” variant technique in 8 heddles, on a linen and cotton base, with redistribution of empty spaces, without warp fibers, which leave the thick fiber of the wool fleece visible, as a representation of the dense fog, which covers everything and in a forced way, forces us to stop and have that awareness , although forced, necessary.

Technique: Hand-woven on a loom, with the “Honeycomb” technique in 8 adapted heddles, on a linen and cotton base, with merino wool fleece. Mounted on a wooden frame covered with cotton fabric.

Dimensions: 105cm x 70cm x 4cm

Numbered pieces: Piece 1- Natural white. Piece 2 - Natural tones
